Metal Hydride Hydrogen Purification Device


Principle

The metal hydride hydrogen purification device uses the selective hydrogen absorption ability of hydrogen storage alloy to absorb the hydrogen in lower purity hydrogen to form metal hydride, then the impurity gas concentrated in the device is expelled by hydrogen, therefore improving the purity of hydrogen in the device.



This device can work continuously through the following process:

(1) hydrogen absorbing of hydrogen purifier I: hydrogen of low purity flows into the hydrogen purifier I, meanwhile, normal temperature water flows into the water jacket. Then the hydrogen purifier I begins to absorb hydrogen.

(2) hydrogen desorbing of hydrogen purifier I and hydrogen absorbing of hydrogen purifier II: hydrogen purifier I releases gaseous impurities after absorbing hydrogen, then high temperature water flows into the water jacket , and hydrogen purifier I begins to release high purity hydrogen. At the same time, hydrogen of low purity flows into hydrogen purifier II, and hydrogen purifier II begins to absorb hydrogen.

(3) hydrogen desorbing of hydrogen purifier II, and hydrogen absorbing of hydrogen purifier I: when the hydrogen desorbing process of hydrogen purifier I completes, hydrogen absorbing process of hydrogen purifier II completes too. After that, high temperature water flows into the water jacket of hydrogen purifier II, and it begins to desorb hydrogen. At same time, hydrogen with low purity flows into hydrogen purifier I, and it begins to absorb hydrogen. By absorbing and desorbing hydrogen of two hydrogen purifiers one after another, this device can achieve continuous purification of hydrogen.

The tank of this product is made of stainless steel. Normal temperature water bath of 20 ~ 30℃ and high temperature water bath of 50 ~ 60℃ are needed during operation. The purity of hydrogen can be improved up to 99.999% by this device. It is worth noting that the hydrogen source could not contain gases such as H2O, O2, H2S, NO, SO2, Cl2 and CO, which can cause damage to the hydrogen storage alloys inside the devices. The common specification of the products are listed in the table above, and we can customize products according to customers’ requirements.
