“The development of high performance-price ratio hydrogen storage alloy used for power batteries” (project number: 2006AA11A159) which was undertook by Whole Win (Beijing) Materials Sci. & Tech. Co., Ltd., belonging to "11th Five-Year" 863 project of energy-saving and new energy automobile, had successfully passed the acceptance check of the Ministry of Science and Technology on July 2^nd, 2010.

According to the commission of the 863 project modern transportation technology office，on July 2nd 2010, the 863 project energy-saving and new energy automobile office and the National Science and Technology Venture Capital Development Center carried out the technical acceptance of “The development of high performance-price ratio hydrogen storage alloy used for power batteries”，belonging to "11th Five-Year" 863 project，which was undertook by Whole Win (Beijing) Materials Sci. & Tech. Co., Ltd. The expert group of technical acceptance had checked the acceptance report and related materials, listened to the report of project principal, and carried out spot investigation. The supervision company participated in the entire process. After expert group’s fully discussion, it was agreed that the project had accomplished all requirements of task contract, and achieved the target and examination indexes. They had agreed on the acceptance of the project.

In recent years, with their high performance and environmental friendly advantages, the Metal Hydride/Nickel (MH/Ni) batteries are developing in the direction of large capacity and high power, and have been widely used in electric tools, energy storage of power stations, electric vehicles and other high-power equipments. There is a huge market, and a wide application prospect. As the main material of Metal Hydride/Nickel batteries, rare-earths metals are largely reserved in China, which serving us a strong resource advantage. Adopting international advanced Metal Hydride/Nickel battery technology of our country, taking advantage of the abundant rare-earths resource in China, we can transform the situation from resources export to high value-added products export, which can bring significant economic and social benefits.

With the support of "11th Five-Year" 863 project of energy-saving and new energy automobile,  “The development of high performance-price ratio hydrogen storage alloy used for power batteries” undertook by Whole Win (Beijing) Materials Sci. & Tech. Co., Ltd. had got important achievements. Its product has achieved batch production and sales, which was used to service demonstration vehicles of 2008 Olympic Games and several cities. At present Whole Win (Beijing) Materials Sci. & Tech. Co., Ltd. is the only supplier of hydrogen storage alloy used for MH/Ni batteries to domestic electric vehicle, and the market demand of this type of hydrogen storage alloy is growing rapidly.

Transformation of the 863 project’s achievements into practical productive forces can promote the development of Whole Win (Beijing) Materials Sci. & Tech. Co. Ltd. It can promote not only the transformation of Chinese scientific and technological achievements, but also the transformation from resources export to high value-added products export. It can also make great contribution to the electric vehicles and other environmental protection industries, energy conservation and environmental protection, and circulation economy.

Driving by this project, Metal Hydride Hydrogen Storage Canisters for fuel cells, the other project of Whole Win (Beijing) Materials Sci. & Tech. Co. Ltd., has also made new progress, and its products have a good development momentum.
